Event description

Description

As a special Christmas treat, the Barbican will be welcoming YAF members for a morning viewing of their groundbreaking exhibition Basquiat: Boom for Real.

Boom for Real is the first large-scale exhibition of the pioneering work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) in the UK. Featuring rare film, photography and archive material, the show captures the spirit of this self-taught artist, poet, DJ and musician whose influence, since his death at 27 in 1988, has been enormous.

Maria Carroll, Senior Development Manager at the Barbican, will discuss how she raised funds to present the exhibition and share her top tips for securing exhibitions sponsorship.

Entry is via the Silk Street entrance. Well be meeting outside Benugo in the Barbican Centre foyer for networking coffee from 8.30am, before going through to the exhibition at 9am. This special morning event means YAF members will be able to gain private access to the exhibition before it opens to the general public at 10am, so well worth the early start.

Spaces are limited and we'll be operating a waiting list once all places are allocated. If you are no longer able to join us, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible so we can release your space.

This event is open to Young Arts Fundraisers members only. Please contact info@youngartsfundraisers.org to check eligibility.

YAF is grateful to the Barbican for their support of this event.
