Event description

Description

Although Auguste Rodin broke new ground with his often controversial sculptures in the turn-of-the-century Paris, he, like many of his contemporaries, admired classical art above all. Discover how ancient Greek sculpture inspired him to set a radical new direction for modern art.

This private view of the British Museum’s exhibition, ‘Rodin and the Art of Ancient Greece’, with an introduction by the Curator, Celeste Farge, offers the opportunity to view examples of Rodin’s own work (including The Kiss and The Thinker), alongside a number of ancient marble, bronze and terracotta pieces he owned, and a selection of antiquities from the museum’s collection, including some of the world-famous sculptures from the Parthenon.

Includes use of audioguide.
