Event description

Description

Teams of six students in Key Stage groups 3-5 (Years 7-13) are entered into one of the five area heats to compete for a space at the Grand Final. The teams are set a problem to solve, using only the materials provided, within a fixed time. The winning teams are those in each key stage group who have been judged to have best met the criteria set out in the problem.

Students will develop their skills in problem solving, teamwork, communication and practical science whilst embedding key employability skills. They will also learn about the importance of engineering and science in the world and be given some ideas of the opportunities and careers open to engineers and scientists.

This activity helps towards meeting the following Gatsby Benchmarks: (GB4) linking curriculum learning to careers and (GB5) encounters with employers and employees.

If you would like to book all three key stages, please select this option at checkout and choose if you'd like to pay online or to be invoiced. If you would like to book one or two out of the three key stages then please add both key stages to your basket and again, choose if you'd like to be invoiced or pay online.
