Description

Learn about how process management can help law firms with their efficiency, effectiveness and profitability with Duncan Ogilvy from 3Kites.

This practical session addresses the way law firms and legal departments carry out legal work.

With clients demanding "more for less", efficiency is vital. Some efficiencies are generated by the back office. These are worthwhile but the benefits are greater when a firm finds ways to streamline its legal work, giving clients what they want (and are willing to pay for) whilst maintaining or enhancing their profit margin. We will describe approaches that we have found helpful to analyse and map existing legal processes and design a fresh approach which typically costs the firm less and still meets the clients' needs.

We will briefly cover approaches such as Lean and Six Sigma and recommend steps you can take within your own organisation. These may involve:

  • investment in technology
  • KM input such as documented processes and templates
  • a revised pricing structure or
  • a fresh staffing profile

Duncan Ogilvy is a consultant with 3Kites, having joined in 2012 from Mills and Reeve, where he was Managing Partner. He completed an MBA at Nottingham Law School, where he continues to teach and supervise on the MBA course. He is always a very popular speaker at Knowledge Network UK events.

This event is particularly suitable for those who work in Information and Knowledge Management in professional services organisations, as well as senior lawyers who are looking to expand their knowledge and improve their team's performance.

This event is part of the Knowledge Network UK programme, but everyone is welcome.
