Description

What impact has Brexit had on procurement law and how does state aid law affect you?

Despite the referendum vote on 23 June, EU public procurement law continues to govern the purchase of goods, works and services by public bodies in the United Kingdom. The Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and its 2016 counterparts for utilities and concessions, have now bedded into the law of England and Wales, with government guidance and case law in the courts continuing to develop.

In addition, European state aid law continues to apply, as evidenced in the recent high profile European decision in relation to Apple’s low taxes in Ireland. Even if Article 50 is invoked, it is likely that both public procurement law and state aid law will govern the actions of contracting authorities for some time to come.

Join our specialist procurement lawyers, Richard Hough and Michael Winder, at this free seminar at our Liverpool office to provide an update on public procurement law and state aid.

Richard and Michael are both members of the Procurement Lawyers’ Association and have significant experience of advising contracting authorities and private sector clients on a wide range of public procurement law issues.
In the seminar, Richard and Michael will discuss:
  • Brexit, and what it means for public procurement law
  • An overview of governmental guidance on various aspects of public procurement legislation
  • Recent case law
In addition, Richard and Michael will be joined by barrister Kelly Stricklin-Coutinho of 39 Essex Chambers, London. Kelly is a public procurement and state aid expert and will provide a helpful summary of the principles of state aid law at the seminar, explaining what state aid law is and how it could affect your organisation.

Who should attend?
Contracting authority employees and their in-house legal teams.
Private sector businesses who supply to the public sector.
