Overview

This course provides public procurement staff with essential knowledge and understanding of procuring works, particularly construction projects..
The course is presented by an experienced trainer. Training notes are supplied for reference.
On completion of this course, attendees will have gained knowledge of public procurement, and will understand key terms, concepts and the Scottish procurement landscape.

- Construction market roles and subcontracting.
- Government and industry initiatives.
- Contract types, specifications, and risk/payment mechanisms.
- Contract management and standard forms (NEC, ICE, JCT).
- Construction risks and health & safety.
- Scottish Government construction manual and initiatives.
- Managing variations and claims.
- Relationships between project and contract management, including subcontractors.
