Event description
Part of the RSGS Inspiring People talks programme. Prof Iain Stewart talks about reshaping the future of urban disaster risk.

About this Event

Over two billion people are exposed to floods, earthquakes, landslides, volcanos and cyclones in cities of low-to-middle income countries. And this figure is expected to double by 2050. To coordinate disaster risk management in such places, a new £20 million research initiative, Tomorrow’s Cities, has been developed for Kathmandu, Istanbul, Nairobi and Quito. RSGS President Iain Stewart will explain how this project aims to better protect the poorest, most marginalised populations living in our planet’s riskiest cities.

Tickets are on sale here or on the door; RSGS Members and students are entitled to free entry on the door - all subject to availability.
