Description

New Frontiers in Vaccine Development – a Tale of Malaria, Ebola and Biochemical Superglue!’

Simon is a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellow, Lister Institute Research Prize Fellow, Associate Professor in the Nuffield Department of Medicine and Supernumerary Fellow, Merton College at the University of Oxford. His research interests include studies of vaccine-induced malaria immunity as well as the optimisation of antibody induction by vaccines, in particular for those against malaria as well as other diseases such as Ebola. More recently he has played a key role in the start-up of a new company, SpyBiotech, focussed on the development of the next generation of worldwide vaccines produced using biochemical superglue. In his talk he will share findings from his ground breaking research into vaccines for malaria and Ebola and why this work is so important in preventing diseases in the developing world.
