Professional Development & Placement - 1 Day Assessment Centre Experience
About the Day
To prepare you for L5 Professional Placements and future Graduate Trainee Scheme opportunities, all PDP2 students are required to participate in a one-day Assessment Centre experience at an off-campus conference venue in Leeds.
Your Assessment Centre Day experience will replicate a professional work-based environment in which you will undertake a variety of team-based challenge exercises based on real work-based scenarios set by real employers who will be present on the day to observe and assess your performances.
Refreshments will be provided during regular breaks throughout the day along with a packed-lunch of sandwich, drink and biscuit. If you have any special dietary considerations please advise the module coordinator.
The aim is to make this an exciting and fun event as well as a valuable opportunity to build your confidence and team working skills, help you identify personal strengths and weaknesses in employability, and apply that knowledge to a satisfactory standard during your 6-week placement next April-May.
To reflect the importance of, and level of challenge required, this full day event is weighted at 50% of your PDP2 module marks. The marking criteria will be predicated on prompt attendance, professional participation, communication, teamwork and leadership. It should be noted that no student will be awarded a mark for this exercise in their absence.
