Public Speaking Workshops for Professionals

If you would like to improve your public speaking, perfect your presentations or simply reduce nerves, join us on Wednesday 29th October for our special full day workshop for professionals. Our director of Debate Hub, Michael Hepburn, has over 15 years' experience coaching professionals and has worked with politicians, entrepreneurs, doctors, marketing professionals and more. This workshop will not be focused on 'power zones', hand placement or other internet nonsense, but solid principles of good public speaking, with actionable advice and engaging activities to make you a more natural, confident communicator by the end of the day.

Working in small groups of 6 to 12, we will cover how to prepare speeches, presentations and pitches as well as what to focus on - and what to not worry about. The sessions are always interactive, with participants given opportunities to practise in a friendly, low-stakes environment. You can choose to focus on a specific presentation or speech, or use the time to develop your overall speaking skills.

  • “Michael has a lovely way about him and ran the session seamlessly. I took away some really great tips and thoroughly enjoyed it - thank you." - workshop participant
  • “They are a very discerning crowd, so I was expecting criticism, but they really rated Michael. There was a great balance of listening, engaging and doing." – Victoria Fox, CEO of AAR Marketing
  • “Michael was great; he explained all points very clearly and gave excellent advice for dealing with nerves. Have already recommended to others." - workshop participant

The workshop will take place in the Burgess room of our Grade II-listed Oakwood building at the Senior School; a light lunch is provided and tea/coffee are available throughout. No experience necessary.
