Description

The Faculty of Advocates will host a Professional Regulation Conference on Friday 18th May 2018 in the Mackenzie Building from 9.30am. Registration with tea and coffee from 9am. Light lunch provided.

Speakers confirmed for the event so far include:

  • Dame Caroline Swift, Chair of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) - Keynote speech
  • David Gomez, Scrutiny and Quality Legal Assistant Director, Professional Standards Authority on PSA’s aims and how they will go about achieving them
  • Maree Allison, Director of Fitness to Practise, SSSC on the new Fitness to Practise model and newly created legal chair positions
  • Derek Auchie, Senior Lecturer, University of Aberdeen School of Law
  • Clare Strickland, Deputy Director of Fitness to Practise, NMC London on NMC Strategy
  • Elaine MacGlone, Equality and Diversity Manager, Law Society of Scotland, on the Professional Regulation accreditation scheme
  • Andrew Webster, Advocate on the perceptions of a LQC/legal assessor as to advocacy: what works and what doesn't
  • Kay Springham QC on the challenges of the Khan case before the Supreme Court
  • Robert Frazer, Advocate on current case law

This event is open to any solicitors, students and members of the public who wish to attend. Tickets are refundable up to 24 hours in advance. Please remember to bring your ticket on the day.
