Event description

Description

There is now a growing understanding that sensory processing disorders make a massive impact on our day, and it is now part of the diagnostic criteria for Autistic Spectrum Disorders, and has proven to be a part of ADHD too. It is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes in through the senses. This half day training will explore this in more detail and give you a deeper understanding of the condition and how it manifests itself. It will also help you gain an understanding of the types of things that may cause a sensory overload, help explain the resulting behaviours, which can then help determine ways to eliminate or manage the issues.

This knowledge can have a huge impact on reducing what can be interpreted as challenging behaviour and control and make day to day life so much easier so everyone involved.

This half day session is open to professionals in the afternoon, with a particular focus on supporting Children and Young People. The session includes refreshments.
