S1 Social Media for Researchers - Wayne Barry & Claire Choong Tuesday 22nd January 2019, 11am-12.30pm

Forms of different Social Media, such as academia.edu, Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc. will be explored and discussed as a way of disseminating your research output and as a way of keeping yourself updated on research area that might be central to your field of study


S2 Pitching Your Research (the 3 Minute Thesis) - TBD - Thursday 11th April 2019, 9-10.30am

This session introduces students to the three minute thesis. The idea of a three minute thesis is to have an ‘elevator pitch’ that you can structure and refine to market your research. We discuss what makes a good three minute thesis also as part of a formal university-wide competition run by Vitae annually that students will be supported in entering.

This session explores how to give effective conference presentations



S5 Professional Learning Networks - Wayne Barry - Thursday 9th May 2019, 9am-10.30am

This session introduces you to the notion of a Professional Learning Network (PLN). Using the PLN Enrichment Framework (Krutka, Carpenter & Trust, 2017), the session will help delegates to reflect upon how they might continuously improve their PLN experiences and outcomes. Furthermore, the session will consider which digital tools can best enrich PLN engagement.
