Event description

Description

This training course, which has been designed for any doctor to attend, focusses on key areas of professionalism which doctors encounter daily, both at work and in their private lives. The aim is for delegates to develop a greater understanding of their medico-legal responsibilities and the common areas in which doctors can find themselves in difficulty throughout their career.

The day will be divided into five topic areas: personal and professional boundaries, ending professional relationships, personal conduct, raising concerns about self and others and regulatory and legal duties of candour.

Within these topic areas a variety of issues will be explored including:

  • personal relationships
  • acceptance of gifts
  • conflicts in end of life care
  • assisted suicide
  • use of chaperones
  • managing your online presence
  • personal beliefs
  • preparation for investigation

The sessions will vary and include presentations, group discussion and case studies. Speakers include Dr Gail Gilmartin, medical and risk adviser, and Liz Price, senior risk adviser.

Accreditation for 5 CPD credits has been applied for from Royal College of Physicians.
