Professor Marina Warner on 'The Migrant Queen: Metamorphoses of Dido'
Join us - the Institute of Greece, Rome, and the Classical Tradition - in the Old Council Chamber, Wills Memorial Building, as we recognise the generosity of our benefactors with a public lecture by Professor Marina Warner FBA FRSL. An acclaimed best-selling novelist, Professor Warner is also a short-story writer, mythographer, scholar, and one of the Institute's most esteemed Vice-Presidents. Some of Professor Warner's recent publications include The Symbol Gives Rise to Thought (Violette Editions, 2014); Once Upon a Time – A Short History of Fairy Tale (Oxford University Press, 2014); and Fly Away Home (Salt Publishing, 2015).
We are delighted to welcome Professor Warner to speak at our annual Donors' Celebration, where she will give a public lecture on 'The Migrant Queen: Metamorphoses of Dido', which will bring the Aeneid’s story up to date in relation to the current refugee crisis in the Mediterranean. The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception. All are welcome at this free event.
