Event description

Description

Found off the Pembrokeshire coast, Skomer Island is the remote island home to the world’s largest population of Manx Shearwaters, 6000 breeding pairs of Puffins, and is the only known habitat of the Skomer Vole. Truly, a naturalist’s paradise.

Since 1972, Tim Birkhead has studied the island’s population of guillemots aiming to understand population fluctuation, the drivers behind it and the wider state of the marine environment. In this talk, Professor Birkhead shares the story of this fascinating and rare long-term project.
