Description

Feelings at Work in Modern Britain

Speaker: Claire Langhamer, Professor of Modern British History, University of Sussex

This lecture explains how and why feelings at work - viewed through the language, relationships, practices and spaces of working lives - have changed since 1945. Focusing on the perspectives of ordinary workers, it explores feelings about work, feelings at work, feeling as work and the impact of work on feeling. It will demonstrate that feelings have long mattered in the workplace and that doing a job has had a significant influence on feelings about other people, the world and ourselves.
