Programming and data logging with micro:bits
Do you want to get creative and engage your learners with programming micro:bits?
In this hands-on CPD session we'll explore the teaching and learning of computational thinking using the power of micro:bits.
In this hands-on CPD session we'll explore:
- The main input and output features of micro:bits, specifically the buttons, the LED display and the inbuilt sensors.
- Practical tips for getting started with your class - safety, connecting devices, saving and sharing code, using simulators to test your code
- How to program micro:bits using Free Code micro:bit
- The lesson plans and premade resources in the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of Work
Benefits and outcomes:
- Understanding how programming physical devices can stimulate computational thinking
- Understand how the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of Work can support you in delivering the computing curriculum in your class;
- Save time when planning and finding resources;
There will be opportunities for hands-on exploration during the session, so to get the best out of the session you will need:
