About this event
How can we make the right to food real in Scotland – and in Perth & Kinross?
Nourish Scotland and partners invite you to join a workshop for managers, practitioners and wider stakeholders working across food, advice, community, local authority and health services. Together, we’ll explore how we can bring dignity, rights and cash-first approaches to life in our communities.
This interactive workshop aims to:
Build a shared understanding of the right to food in Scotland and Perth & Kinross
Facilitate awareness and engagement in rights-based and dignified approaches
Identify practical actions and opportunities to advance the right to food movement
Strengthen networks across Perth & Kinross and beyond
This event is for:
- Community food projects
- Advice and welfare providers
- Local authorities
- NHS and health boards
- Policy-makers and planners
- Anyone working to create a fair, dignified and sustainable food system in Perth & Kinross
Why now?
The Scottish Government has confirmed its intention to reintroduce a Human Rights Bill (if re-elected post-2026), which would incorporate the right to food into Scots law.
The Cash-First: Towards Ending the Need for Food Banks plan sets out a clear direction of travel, with many projects already shifting towards income-based approaches that uphold dignity.
