Event description

Description

The University is committed to addressing gender inequality and increasing diversity at management and policy-making levels.

Our data indicates that fewer women apply for Professor and Reader positions but the success rate for those who do is higher than for men. What this tells us is that women might not feel confident to apply, even though they have the required qualifications.

We want to increase the number of female applicants to the Professoriate Committee in 2018, so in good time to prepare, we are holding two awareness-raising sessions at which female academics can get a clear understanding of the process and the required standards and hear first-hand from women who have gone through the process.

In the words of Dame Carol Black, Principal of Newnham College, Cambridge and senior policy advisor on work and health to the British Government, “You can’t get a job or promotion if you don’t apply for it, so put yourself forward”.

Agenda to follow.

Lunch & Refreshments will be provided.

If you have any queries or specific access and/or dietary needs, please do not hesitate to contact us.
