Who is this workshop for?

Maths teachers and leaders teaching those aged 5-8


Key learning outcomes

Gain confidence in using Numicon to build fluency, mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills across key mathematical ideas (including equivalency, place value, addition and subtraction)

Experience how Numicon supports the CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) approach to teaching, through deep, pattern-based relational understanding of essential mathematical concepts

Understand how to address the needs of all learners in Lower Elementary through low threshold high ceiling activities, pupil practice and deep questioning


David Lyttle


David Lyttle is a practising teacher (at the International School of Düsseldorf in Germany, an IB World School) with deep experience using Numicon in the classroom, at all levels across Early Years and Elementary. He is an engaging trainer with a good understanding of International School contexts and challenges. David has a Masters of Inclusion Education K-12 with a focus on Math difficulties, prevention and intervention, and support for gifted and talented students.
