Come and join in with the Community Art Project. “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” – Albert Einstein.
Project Factory CIC and Ruth Ames-White are sowing the seeds to create a tree-mendous piece of craft-based artwork which will be made by the community for the community and will be publicly displayed in Wells for future generations.
Ruth Ames-White, of RAW Mosaics and Wells in Mosaic, has designed a beautiful mosaic tree and we'd like you to make the leaves for it.
We are supported by funding from Somerset Skills & Learning to offer 6 stand-alone workshops for you to join us in making individual mosaic leaves which will become part of the installation. We are asking for a £5 donation to cover materials.
On this workshop you will learn how to design and layout the tiles for your leaf, cutting tiles, arranging them and setting them in place ready for Ruth to assemble the whole piece at a later date.
According to Craft Council UK: The ongoing surge in mental health problems can be attributed to myriad factors, but dwindling access to creativity, and the all important mind-to-hand connection, certainly plays a role. Craft can alleviate the symptoms of anxiety, depression, loneliness and even dementia.
Register your place by selecting ONE of the workshops above (SELECT A DATE button). Please note that the funding for these workshops is limited to residents of Somerset. Please bring ID with you.
Concessions: for those receiving benefits (please bring proof)
