Attend a Project Race survey result drop in session to find out more about the survey results directly from the team.

About this Event

Project Race is a full-time project within the DfE which aims to ensure we have a race inclusive culture where we all feel both comfortable and empowered to talk about race, we are all aware of the disproportionate disadvantage our BAME colleagues experience in the department and we are actively looking at solutions to address those inequalities.

As part of an initial consultation period, Project Race ran its first staff survey in August 2019, which had a response rate of 34%. The survey results will be released on 18 November and we want to provide an opportunity for staff to engage with and understand the survey results so we will be holding survey drop-in sessions throughout November/December across all DfE sites.

Some of the key themes that have come out of the survey include, the importance of and comfort with talking about race, awareness of the lived experience of BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) staff, race-based bullying harassment and discrimination, intersectionality and perceptions of and trust in the department.

The survey presents a lot of new information, but it also has a lot of information many of us will already be aware of. If you are interested in hearing a bit more about the survey, please do sign up to join the sessions.

Team members will provide some background on the survey results and then will open to the room for questions and discussion. Please feel to drop in and out of the session, it will be very informal.

If you have any queries about these events, please contact the Project Race team at project.race@education.gov.uk.
