Project:Hack11 Challenges

The first three challenges are out:

Challenge 1 - Project Plan Evolution Dashboard

This challenge is provided by NPlan and is all about understanding the effects on frequent changes to project plans. You will be provided data on a project schedule plan and the updates that are submitted to it and it is YOUR job to understand the effect these changes have. You will need to create a live dashboard to analyse the changes as well as create a tool to present a report to return to the clients.

Challenge 2 - Customer Experience Tool

This challege focuses on collecting feedback data from customers and leveraging that data into easy-to-understand client relationship reports. Hackers will be tasked with creating a feedback collection application, a centralised database for data storage and an automated flow for approval and updates.

Challenge 3 - Material Verification

Challenge 3 is provided by SRM, Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) are a leading UK construction and civil engineering company. They design, develop, build, and maintain some of the UK’s most iconic buildings. This challenge is all about making sure sub-contractors are providing the correct information regarding their sustainability reports. To do this, you will need to use material invoices and certification catalogues to generate sustainability reports instantly.

Let’s get started!

We'll start the event by introducing the challenges and the data sets. You'll then have the opportunity to pitch your idea to the crowd to invite team members, or join a team whose idea you want to work on. The remainder of the weekend will be spent developing the concepts, interrogating the data, building proof of concepts and delivering a solid pitch to support it. Finally, you'll get the opportunity to present to industry experts who will judge your proposal.

Happy to support you!

There will be online support. Data scientists, PowerBI experts and subject matter experts will help you with technical queries and mentors will guide you towards the perfect pitch. Computer science students are also welcome. It promises to be a great couple of days with food, drinks, ideas and bucket loads of fun.

The only requirement is to come with a lot of bright ideas and enthusiasm!
