Event description

Description

Let’s face it, technology is playing an increasing role in all our lives. The public is using health apps to improve fitness levels, manage complex conditions and to motivate and sustain behaviour change.

Clinicians and care providers are increasingly, ‘prescribing’ apps as an integral part of the service they offer. But, whilst Mobile apps offer the promise of connecting millions of patient to immediate care, they also present risks and security vulnerabilities. Without universal standards to guide development, the landscape can seem both chaotic and confusing.

Come and here about ORCHA ( The organisation for the review of Health and Care Applications ) from its founder & CEO Liz Ashall-Payne.

Passionate about the opportunities that technology and particularly apps offer to improve health and care efficiencies and outcomes, Liz founded ORCHA in 2015, determined to present a way to offer much needed guidance to app developers to help raise app quality, as well as helping the public and professionals to confidently find and apply apps that could genuinely improve public, patient and organisational outcomes.

Initially a Speech and Language Therapist, Liz has almost 20 years NHS experience. She has successfully led innovative change and service transformation in complex health economies. She has led regional, national and European change programmes and networks to deliver transformational shift and has experience of working collaboratively with Public Sector, Industry and Academia. Current roles include CEO for ORCHA, Coach and Mentor on the NHSE Clinical Entrepreneur programme, Associate Vice Chair at BCS, Hub Lead for Health.
