Promoting independent learning with metacognition, oracy & self-regulation
Wed 28 June 2017, 09:30 – 15:30 BST
Do you ever feel frustrated when students demand to be spoon-fed information?
Have your students hit the "year 12 wall"?
Do you wish your students could do more to drive their own learning?
This is a one-day workshop for teachers, tutors and senior leaders, based on original research into the use of metacognition (reflecting on learning), oracy (speaking and listening) and self-regulation (taking ownership of learning) as powerful drivers of independent learning.
A 5-year evaluation by researchers from the University of Cambridge found that our Learning Skills programme led to significantly improved subject learning and a closing of the gap between Pupil Premium students and their peers from 25% to 2% (Mannion & Mercer, 2016).
Learn practical strategies for unlocking the power of independent learning in your students!
NB we plan to film parts of this workshop for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to take part in filming, please let us know. Also, if you have any other questions, please contact us here. Many thanks!
