Promoting Operational Research
Tue 6 December 2016, 14:00 – 16:00 GMT
Operational Research (OR) is one of the four analytical professions in ONS. But have you ever wondered what OR actually is, and what work OR analysts are doing at ONS?
The 'Promoting Operational Research' event aims to answer these questions, showcasing the work being done here and across government by members of the Government Operational Research Service (GORS). As RAS staff are being encouraged to align to one of the four government professions, the event will demonstrate what OR offers, and the skills that analysts have.
The event will be opened by Peter Fullerton, Deputy Director of the Data Science campus, and will feature the GORS Head of Profession at ONS, Katherine Kent. Also presenting will be an OR analyst at ONS; an OR Data Science specialist from the Home Office; and Professor Paul Harper, Head of OR at Cardiff University. The talks will start soon after 2, lasting for around an hour.
A stand will be open before and after the presentations, showcasing other OR work at ONS, so please drop in to take a look, even if you are not able to attend the whole event.
