3 - 7

Course Content:

This course provides an overview of the most common conditions, such as ADS and ADHD for example, that affects the behaviour of children aged between 3 and 7 years. It explores triggers for challenging behaviour and provides a basic overview of treatment/care currently available. The course will discuss how behaviour policies, procedures & strategies can help promote positive aspects of behaviour and will signpost the practitioner to organisations which support young children. There is a theoretical basis for the course, but there is also an opportunity to discuss issues and the experiences of co-workers within small groups.

Expected Outcomes:

On completion of the course learners will have:

  • A greater understanding of the main conditions that can affect behaviour in children;
  • Be more confident dealing with and implementing strategies for children with behavioural problems;
  • Be more confident in communicating with children displaying challenging behaviour;
  • Know what other organisations are available to support children with conditions;
  • Have more confidence in promoting positive behaviour strategies and dealing with challenging behaviours.
