From the 3rd to the 19th century Iron Gall Ink was the predominate writing medium! In this workshop you will learn about the historical significance and preservation issue associated with this ink.

You will also get a chance to make iron gall ink following a historic recipe from the PRONI’s archives and write with it on both paper and parchment using a feather quill.

Bring an apron to protect your clothes and an empty glass jar to bring some ink home with you!
