About this event

When Is it:

Every first Wednesday of the Month 12:00 - 14:00 and...

every Last Saturday of the Month 18:00 - 20:00.

What This Is:

Therapy has moved to alot of remote, online spaces. Being able to connect with other therapists to explore our practices, network, meet like-minds, and discuss pressing issues we may not ordinarily have space to discuss, can be rather difficult.

This is not a supervision space for us to discuss clients. Nothing confidential should be spoken of here, but rather this is somewhere to discuss what it means to be a therapist in the advent of so many changes across the globe.

For the solitary, the isolated, the remote-working. For the inquisitive, the curious, the developing, and the enquiring. This is a space for us to talk our craft, and grow in our practice, and as people.

How It Works:

  1. At the start of the session, everyone suggests a topic, and we vote for our top three!
  2. Throughout the session, Nathan will mediate the discussion, allow everyone to raise their hands and add their two cents to the topic at hand.
  3. If a topic runs dry, we move onto the next.
  4. For the last half hour of the session, we'll do a check-out to see how everyone is feeling.
  5. After the session ends, an impromptu chat may continue, unmediated for people to talk amongst themselves!

Frequently asked questions

Is this a supervision circle?

No, this is a mediated discussion on ideas, pressing issues, and counselling theory. This is a space to discuss theory, our feelings on being therapists, and to network and meet fellow colleagues! Nothing confidential should be shared in this space.

I don't have something I want to discuss, can I just listen?

Of course! There will be no obligation to put on cameras or speak. You may be invited to, but if you remain quiet we'll just move on. No pressure to speak at all.

What if I feel uncomfortable with what is being discussed?

We want to make sure this is a safe space. If at any point things feel rough around the edges, you can use the reactions on the zoom call to indicate how you are feeling, and Nathan (me!) will mediate as best we can. You are always welcome to drop out of the session as well if you need a breather.

What kinds of topics can I suggest?

Anything really! A new theory or practice in the field. A pressing global issue impacting your work. How you are feeling about your work. As long as it isn't confidential information about clients, nor asking for medical advice, most topics should be clear. But we can check at the time.

I am a trainee therapist, can I still come?

Of course! This is an informal space to discuss our profession at whatever stage in our journeys.

Can this count towards CPD?

No, this event cannot officially be counted towards CPD.

From my website:

Hello! My name is Nathan Dean (he/him, cis/het), and I am a person-centered therapist based in the UK, working with clients all over the world. As a person-centered therapist, my role is to explore your lived experience; rather than give direct advice, we explore together what will work specifically for you, your circumstances, and your view of the world around you. Whether grief, depression, anxiety, or some of the more specific elements listed below, we can create a safe space together to explore your experiences.

I also bring in techniques and theories from other practices, such as gestalt and CBT, but I am always diving into other modalities to create a holistic approach for all my clients, whether part of the western canon of therapeutic techniques, or trying to decolonise my approach.

Below is a break down of what I can bring to your space. And this is key. This time is your time. Whatever you want to discuss, at the pace you feel is beneficial. I will guide, and challenge, where appropriate, but the core is that this is a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore what you have collected along lifes journey.
