Programme Summary

• Understand the legal framework and clearly differentiate sanctions requirements from AML obligations
• Understand your firm-wide AML documentation (risk assessment, PCP/policy, procedures) and what it means in practice for their role
• Apply the appropriate level of CDD, including when and how to step up to EDD
• Identify key red flags and know the right action to take
• Apply a genuinely risk-based approach rather than a box-ticking one
• Evaluate suspicion and understand when concerns tip into SAR territory
• Understand their role in the internal SAR process and how this links with the MLRO’s responsibilities
• Implement proportionate, ongoing monitoring of clients and transactions
• Deal with more complex CDD scenarios (for example, probate and other higher-risk structures)
• Identifying the beneficial owner and the corporate structures of UK and overseas shell companies and offshore trusts
• Beneficial ownership exercise relating to an offshore trust and shell companies
• Criminal Finances Act 2017 i.e. Unexplained Wealth Orders
• Financial Sanctions

Learning Objectives:

• Walking step-by-step through CDD/EDD decisions and SAR triggers

• Translating your own policy and risk assessment into “what do I actually do on this file?”

• Please ensure you are logged into the training session 10 minutes beforehand as the course will commence promptly at 9.30am. Delegates will not be permitted access after 9:45am.
• You will receive a course handout and the Microsoft Teams access link prior to the course.
• Cameras must be turned on throughout as this is a CPD-Certified Course.
• Delegates must attend the whole session to receive a CPD-Certified Certificate upon completion of the online course.

Refunds in respect of cancellations can only be made if cancellations are received in writing at least 7 days before the event, and will be subject to a 50% administrative charge. Cancellations received after this period will be charged 100% of the course fee. Please note that non-attendance (without prior notification) is subject to a 100% cancellation fee.
