This month we are welcoming: Marie Macklin, Founder of Macklin Enterprises Partnership, Graham Ross, Partner of Austin Smith Lord Architects firm in Glasgow and Gill Henry, BDD of Hart Builders

Marie is a major stakeholder in The HALO Kilmarnock Ltd which is the regeneration of the site that formerly housed the Johnnie Walker bottling plant, which closed in 2012 with the loss of more than 500 jobs as production moved to modern lines in Glasgow and Fife. The company leading the development includes Macklin Enterprise Partnerships, The Klin Group and Ross Developments & Renewables with “observers” on the board from East Ayrshire Council. The Halo Kilmarnock claims the HALO project could create and/or up to 1,400 new jobs and support 630 construction jobs through the development phase.

Graham is a Partner and the Office Principal of the Glasgow studio. He is an architect, urban designer and planner and has been involved in a wide range of projects throughout the UK and Ireland. He is a Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, an Academician of the Academy of Urbanism, a Recognised Practitioner of the Urban Design Group and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Graham is the current Deputy Chair of Architecture & Design Scotland and has served on the Saltire Society Housing Design Awards panel since 2010. He has contributed to several published pieces of research undertaken for the Scottish Government and his work has received numerous awards, including three Scottish Design Awards.

Gill Henry is Business Development Director of Hart Builders will be speaking about their support for Scotland's first village for homesless people, as part of the campaign on this issue created by Josh Littlejohn. This village was created from vacant council owned land providing a beautiful pre-fabricated house design to create a bespoke community environment.
