Event description
Are you prepared for the upcoming challenges within the UK property sector?

About this Event

A sector in flux, the UK property market is gearing up for more challenging times.

Brexit uncertainty has resulted in a slower year for investment volumes, while existing transactions have experienced delays or cancellations. Having benefited from an 11-year ‘bull run’, our construction industry is seeing a resultant downturn, with August seeing contractors suffer the biggest fall in new orders since March 2009.

In the face of these external pressures, how can organisations minimise risk and protect their future?

In this free seminar aimed at developers, house-builders, funders, investors and professionals in related areas, we will be exploring the short-term property landscape and what this means for the businesses operating within it.

Head of Construction, Energy and Engineering for Kuits, Charlie Tomlinson, will be sharing his insights into the contractual provisions organisations should be adopting in order to protect their position and preserve cash-flow. We will also be welcoming Rob Wallace, Associate Director at property consultancy Walker Sime, who will exploring the critical role of robust project management in successful builds.

The seminar will explore:

• Choices of procurement method – is Design & Build still the “risk-free” option?

• Realistic allocation of risk

• Getting paid – milestones vs interim, withholding payment, retentions

• Insurances

• Protective measures, avoiding ‘Time and Money’ claims

• Practical completion

• Securities – warranties/guarantees and bonds
