PROTEST & RALLY against ERDOGAN's aggressions + violations of human rights
Event Information
About this Event
The authoritarian regime of Turkey's president Recep Erdogan is responsible for:
- breaking international law in the Mediterranean
- threatening EU states Greece and Cyprus
- insulting European leaders
- committing war crimes against Armenians, Kurds, Assyrians, Yazidis and others
- imperialist military interference in Libya and Syria
- supporting terrorist organisations such as Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS and Al-Qaeda
- operating an anti-democratic Islamist network throughput Europe
- violating human rights on an industrial scale
- intimidating political opponents
- conspiring with Pakistan to develop nuclear weapons
President Erdogan warned European citizens that "you will not walk safely on your streets".
The European Parliament took this threat seriously last November when it passed a resolution calling on Europe's heads of states (the European Council) to impose "tough sanctions" on Erdogan's Turkey.
The European Council failed to do so, thereby ignoring both Parliament's concerns and threats to our safety.
The Protest and Rally will take place during a meeting of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET). We will reinforce the clear message that there is wide public support for Parliament's call to take meaningful action against Erdogan's appalling regime.
Speakers (including MEPs, MPs, and leaders of human rights and civil society organisations) will be confirmed in due course.
Please note that attendance is strictly by registration, and subject to regulations. Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.
