Event description
A two-day training workshop for charities, voluntary and community groups to prepare social accounts & improve organisational efficiency

About this Event

The Social Audit Network (SAN) is running a two-day training workshop to prepare people to complete their social accounts. Successful completion of the course qualifies participants as social accountants.

The training provides a framework for charities, voluntary and community groups & social enterprises to be clear about:

• Their purpose focusing on the organisation’s Vision Mission Values Objectives and Activities.

• Identifying their stakeholders and how to consult with them on the services they provide.

• Preparing ‘social reports’ on the benefits they provide for the communities they serve.

• Being more efficient and effective in the delivery of services.

• Using their ‘social reports’ for informing their stakeholders (including funders) about their work and

• Using the ‘social reports to promote their organisations

This is what some people said about the Social Accounting & Audit Introductory Information events run in Stoke in November 2018 and Stafford in January 2019:

• I liked the logical approach to strategic planning and the importance of consulting stakeholders.

• The simplicity of the information provided – easy to understand.

• Getting a structure to use to refresh our organisational strategy.

• The pace – lots of time to reflect and discuss. The content was well explained.

• Social mapping & having clear mission & vision statements

• Inspired to revisit our business plan. Short and to the point.

• It was easy to understand.

• Helped with where we need to go and how we can achieve this.

How will the 2-day Social Accounting Training benefit organisations like yours?

It will give you the tools, skills and knowledge to;

PROVE what you do. This will be particularly useful to provide information for funders on the social benefits you provide in your communities and for preparing funding applications.

IMPROVE what you do, by strengthening your business practices and reporting on your social value & impact

ACCOUNT for what you to clients, investors, funders and commissioners.

The workshop will take you step by step through a 4-Step social accounting & audit process to be able to prepare a social report on the VALUE and IMPACT your organisation provides in your community and the foundations to operate more EFFECTIVELY and EFFICIENTLY.

The cost of the 2-day training is £375 [SAN members have a reduced rate of £295 + 23.60 - Eventbrite booking fee - £318.60] which includes;

• A copy of the Prove, Improve & Account Guide [Value £45.];

• 1 year’s access to SAN’s online Learning Platform with access to all SAN’s training materials and other resources;

• Lunch and refreshments throughout the day on both days.

As an incentive to attend the workshop and to reduce the overall cost, you can bring a colleague/associate/friend* for an extra £25 [+Eventbrite fee – £2.54] to cover admin and refreshment charges, so for a little over £400 TWO people can attend reducing the cost to £200 per person - £100 per day each.**

* This could be someone in your place of work, someone in another place of work or a friend who you think would benefit from attending

** We do need 6 FULL PAYING PEOPLE to attend to make this viable and to cover our costs.

As an extra SAN will provide a half-day follow-up CONSULTATION session to support organisations to start preparing their social accounts on a date to be agreed.

Please note that booking and making payment for this event will secure your place. Payment must be received at least 5 days before the course unless agreed otherwise.

Bookings cancelled less than one week before the course start date unfortunately cannot be refunded.

Cancellations at more than one week's notice will be refunded in full.

Cancellations must be made in writing and cancellation charges will apply whether or not payment has been received.
