Course Aim

To provide activity providers and care staff with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to deliver person-centred, stage-appropriate activities for people living with dementia. The course blends theoretical understanding with practical application through interactive, engaging online methods.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this online training course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the main types of dementia and describe typical signs, symptoms, and progression stages.
  2. Recognise how person-centred, non-pharmacological approaches enhance wellbeing across all stages of dementia.
  3. Assess individual needs and preferences at each stage of dementia and align activity provision accordingly.
  4. Apply the NAPA framework of engagement to design and adapt meaningful, stage-appropriate activities.
  5. Demonstrate increased confidence in using creative, inclusive methods to engage people living with dementia in emotionally and cognitively supportive ways.
