PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Conference is an annual, landmark day of Panels, Keynotes and Networking Opportunities, presented with contributions from our network of Talent Development Partners.

The conference connects music organisations, policy-makers, music creators and talent development pioneers working across the UK, and covering all genres and career levels.

Join us this year in Sheffield to take a fresh look at shared challenges and opportunities for the music sector. Covering a range of topics, we will focus on the need to put meaningful creative support at the centre of talent development approaches.

Tickets are £15 each

This covers entry and a lunch token so delegates can choose from acclaimed in-house independent kitchens at Kommune in Kollider

11.20am-12.15pm: Panel - Meeting talent development needs in South Yorkshire

In this panel, those with close links to the area will discuss why the City Region Music Board was created and what are the recommendations so far, how is talent development at the centre of plans for the City Region and what does South Yorkshire have to offer that makes it different from other regions?

12.45-12.50pm: Hi-Five w/ Rich Legate, Attitude is Everything

To celebrate those pushing boundaries within the talent development sector, we offer soapbox opportunities to provoke debate and inspire delegates to change the music industry. First up is Rich Legate from Attitude is Everything whose recent Next Level Artist Survey results have resulted in further discussions around improving access to talent development and funding programmes.

12.50-1.45pm: Panel – Accelerating Creative Development

We all know that music creators must wear many hats to stay ahead of audience and industry trends to forge long-term careers. Access to information and support is improving, and it’s never been easier to record, release and perform.

But with so much new music out there, are we encouraging mediocrity if we forget to offer meaningful creative development opportunities to help exceptional talent?

Our second Hi-Five session platforms the recently launched Music Declares Emergency campaign and we’re pleased to have Savages drummer, Fay Milton joining us to inspire delegates to promote the cultural change needed to create a better future.

2.55-3.40pm: Championing Collaboration - Working together in the UK (in association with PPL)

One huge success of PRS Foundation’s Talent Development Partner network has been strategic collaborations between partner organisations which have benefitted hundreds of music creators here in the UK. Two afternoon sessions highlight positive examples to encourage more joined up thinking.

As the PRS Foundation-initiated Keychange programme enters its second phase, Keychange UK Project Manager Maxie Gedge looks back at the successes of Phase 1 and challenge delegates to think about ways in which they can get involved in the Keychange 50:50 by 2022 pledge.

4.05-4.50pm: Championing Collaboration - Opportunities to Collaborate Internationally

From showcasing and touring to residencies and writing camps, an increasing number of opportunities are on offer for music creators ready to broaden their horizons and take advantage of new ways to collaborate and reach audiences.

In this session, we explore how we can work together to encourage global thinking and to break down barriers.
