Event Information
About this Event
Our Main Event:
Richard McCann – Journey from ‘a life story’ to highly a successful speaker business
Richard will share with us his inspiring journey, starting out as an aspiring speaker with his own life story about how he turned his life around, to where he is now. For some years he was recognised as one of the busiest speakers in the PSA. “You don’t realise how far you’ve come until you take time to reflect and remember that first step”. He will take us on his journey starting from stepping in the door at his first PSA meeting having only ever done 2 talks, implementing some of the ideas gained at meetings to build what turned into a successful business having spoken all across the globe almost 3000 times.
Richard McCann – Being Professionally Unprofessional on LinkedIn: the secret sauce of success
One of, perhaps THE, most important tools Richard used to create his business success has been LinkedIn and the way he uses it. Make sure you don’t miss his goldmine of experience to gain ideas and tips you can use to nurture your LinkedIn community to grow a successful speaking business.
PSA Connections
Steve Bustin – “Better Together”
Steve is proposing ‘Better Together’ as a theme until he hands over Presidency of the PSA to Lynda Shaw next Spring. This is about extending the overwhelming sense of ’togetherness’ that delegates felt at the PSA Business Summit. Steve also realised how much he enjoyed working as part of a team to make the Summit happen. Yet he, like many of us, works on his own most of the time. This session explores how we can create more connection in our working life as a speaker and member of the PSA and sow some seeds of ways to get people together. Let’s avoid isolation or working in a silo and to reach out to form business and social connections within the PSA, from masterminding and mentoring to meeting for walks or virtual coffees.

Speaker Bios:
Richard McCann
On a cold and misty morning in October 1975, Richard McCann woke to discover his mother was missing. He was just five years old. She was the first victim of the notorious serial killer, Peter Sutcliffe. Despite other tragic losses, and a period of dabbling with drugs and prison, Richard decided to turn his life around. He grew to become a motivational speaker and loving family man, with a film of his life in development. Today, Richard has delivered over 2500 presentations around the world, inspiring audiences with his story of overcoming adversity, and sharing his powerful iCan approach.
In 2009 he founded the iCanSpeak Academy, training individuals and teams to enhance their presentation skills and communicate their message authentically and with confidence so they achieve more effective results.
