About this event
Psychological Safety at Work...
How do you create a work environment where people flourish and are motivated and inspired to perform at their best?
Psychological safety is a condition in which you feel included and safe. Safe to learn, safe to contribute and safe to challenge the status quo without fear of being embarrassed, marginalised or punished.
As leaders and coaches we can build a 'safe base' with and for people in which potential is unlocked and innovations are unleashed. Incorporating research from foremost thinkers in this field, including Amy Edmondson and Timothy R. Clark, our Learning Lab will support the transformation of experience at work, for ourselves and those around us.
In this 90 minute fully interactive online workshop, we will deepen your understanding of what psychological safety is and how you can create it.
What we’ll cover:
- Exploring four dimensions of psychological safety: Inclusion Safety, Learner Safety, Contributor Safety and Challenger Safety.
- Building an environment: how people thrive when they participate in co-operative systems with high levels of psychological safety.
- Establishing commitment: practical approaches to assessing strengths whilst strengthening other areas of the 'safe base'.
- The science behind the concept: ensuring people can 'show up' at work with undiminished quality of thinking and performance.
- Why psychological safety is not just 'being nice'. We must recognise it as a driver of commitment and accountability.
Session Lead
The session will be delivered by Lorraine Steele - distinguished international coach and facilitator, and a key member of the MF faculty - who has worked for many years on this topic with our Lead for High Performance Research, John Bull. The Learning Lab will be a valuable opportunity to hear how, in their work on psychological safety, there is a strong convergence of essential themes in leadership such as high-performance, environment and relationship intelligence.
