Event description
An interactive conference from the Psychosocial and Mental Health Team sharing approaches for delivering effective psychosocial support

About this Event

The conference will provide a safe place to exchange ideas and promote and share innovative approaches to delivering effective psychosocial support during an emergency, it will allow participants to understand key concepts within psychosocial support as well as develop communities of practice for group and peer support.

The conference has been designed to be as engaging, inclusive and interactive as possible, including several breakout sessions where practitioners will offer group clinical supervisions on themes discussed throughout the day.

Psychosocial Practitioners are qualified mental health professionals and will be delivering brief lectures within a forum setting on topics such as trauma, dealing with intense emotions like anger or suicidal ideation, ambiguous loss, natural reactions to crises, understanding mental health and reflective practice.

Participants will then be given opportunities to participate in group sessions led by a practitioner. Groups consist of no more than 10, are semi-structured, and allow participants to consider how a given theme impacts on their professional experience, what challenges it brings to their practice and consider new ways of supporting people in crisis.

This will be a highly interactive conference, with breakout sessions taking place throughout. Psychosocial Practitioners will always draw on your experiences as frontline responders during emergencies so your participation will greatly help to build on the success of the day.
