Event description

Description

'Here are the keys of the two great wardrobes,' Bluebeard said, 'wherein I have my best furniture. These keys are of my silver and gold plate, which is not every day in use. These open my strong boxes, which hold my money, both gold and silver. These my caskets of jewels, and this is the master-key to all my apartments.

'But as for this little one here, it is the key of the closet at the end of the great gallery on the ground floor. Open them all; go into all and every one of them, except that little closet, which I forbid you, and forbid it in such a manner that, if you happen to open it, there's nothing but what you may expect from my just anger and resentment.'

His wife promised to observe, very exactly, whatever her husband had ordered; when he, after having embraced her, got into his coach and proceeded on his journey.

So begins Andrew Lang's 1889 version of 'Bluebeard', which is just one of many folkloric tales about fantastic or magical events and characters that might be brought to the consulting room. This story is a good example of how archetypically-gripping fairy tales can be.

Why Attend this Workshop?

'Working Therapeutically with Fairy Tales' is an analytically-informed thinking and reflective practice-opportunity. Participants will be able to discuss and explore their responses to Jungian psychoanalytic approaches to working with fairy tale images and archetypes.

This workshop is for qualified, private-practice psychotherapists, counsellors and psychologists registered with the BPC, UKCP, BACP, BPS or equivalent professional body. Trainees who are currently registered with a training institution, and who've begun working with patients or clients, are also invited to attend.

CPD certification will be provided upon successful completion of the seminar.
