Edinburgh Napier University invites you to attend a thought-provoking event, which will bring together an experienced Panel to discuss the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from a military family member’s perspective. This is a unique event where audience participation will be welcomed to help create a meaningful discussion.

The Panel will consider a number of challenging questions on the subject, such as, whether or not enough is being done to support the family members of current and former service personnel living with PTSD and, where does the responsibility lie to ensure that vital support is offered?

We are delighted that the Panel will be Chaired by Matthew Green, British journalist (Reuters and Financial Times) and author. Other Panellists include:

Dr Mandy Winterton whose research has included significant national studies on the many facets of service family life and the issues uniquely experienced by the military family.

Actress Kirsty Dillon who will give an open and honest account of growing up with a father who served in the Royal Navy and suffered from PTSD. Kirsty will also give an insight into her personal PTSD research and support of others with the condition.

Former Royal Marines Commando Sniper Sergeant Jamie Sanderson who along with Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox (SAS; Who Dares Wins) co-founded‘Rock2Recovery’ now a lifesaving arm of The Royal Marines Charity, to support military veterans and their families experiencing stress related Illness. The Panel Chair, Matthew Green's book Aftershock features Jamie (pseudonym ‘AJ’) which will be on sale at the event.

The panel will also feature a married couple who will give their emotive shared and individual perspectives of living with PTSD relating to military service, as well as their experiences of the support offered to them.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required.
