Event description

Description

A lunchtime panel discussion with artist Sue Lawty focusing on her work `Texere` which is about to be installed in the walkway in front of the Clothworkers South Building.

Artist Sue Lawty will talk about the process of making her new Public Art commission Texere, which has been commissioned as part of the Yorkshire Year of the Textile. Created in association with the poet Helen Mort and the sculptor Dan Jones, this new artwork will be situated in the walkway opposite Clothworkers South Building creating a dialogue with Mitzi Cunliffe's Man Made Fibres. Engraved in the sculpture is Helen Mort's poem `Texere`, the words literally becoming part of the weft and weave of the stone work.

Sue Lawty is an artist who uses unconventional materials to make contemporary artworks, particularly works made from stone. Her work is exhibited internationally and she was Artist in residence at the V & A Museum, London
