About this event

Arts • Fine Art

We are working with Architects for Gaza and P21 Gallery to be a part of an alliance to realise this vision and are inviting all who are committed to the future liberation of Palestine and Palestinians to join us.

Architects for Gaza (AFG) are working with the municipality of Gaza on a scheme to rebuild the Gaza Cultural Complex. Their Rebuild Cluster is dedicated to the advancement of citizenship & community development, and the relief of poverty and displacement in Gaza by working in close collaboration with the local population, and by supporting interdisciplinary self-help clusters as needed.

AFG stresses the right of the people of Gaza to a city, to a home and to their land. They have the right to rebuild their lives within a free Palestine.

P21 Gallery is making an Open Call for Artists to donate work for auction the proceeds of which will go towards the rebuilding project. Artworks donated will be on display for public viewing before being sold out.

We recognise in the work already undertaken by Architects for Gaza an approach to rebuilding which is organic and includes a broad sense of culture that includes arts, therapy, psycho-social support, well-being, health, sports, rehabilitation, care for those injured and disabled by organised state violence, enabling children to recover their sense of the experience of childhood, ecology, food and nutrition, public health, literacy. The core of culture is human relationship creating a better life and we propose the rebuilding the cultural centre is centred on collaborative activity now and holding live and virtual spaces to enhance and support dreams of future life.

NOTE: In return for being able to fund our vibrant exhibitions and events, we must charge a fair £5 ticket price to help offset some of the gallery running and overhead expenses. With a large percentage of our public and private sponsorship eliminated, your gift enables us to continue presenting idea-stimulating art and culture events. Thank you immensely for helping independent not-for-profit art spaces like ours.
