Description

Public Involvement in Research in the North West - Creating Inclusive Research

A National Institute for Health Research collaborative event on Thursday 14 March 2019 at The Pyramid, Warrington.

Are you a researcher, health or social care professional, post-graduate student or public contributor in health and social care? Are you interested in developing your understanding of how considering health inequalities and diversity and inclusion in public involvement, can help in your work?

If so, please register to attend this one-day collaborative event on 14 March 2019 at The Pyramid in Warrington, WA1 1BL

In this, the second of two NIHR North West events, we will focus on learning from case studies across the North West where diverse and inclusive approaches to patient and public involvement have been employed. We will also consider how to take health inequalities into account when involving patients and the public.

The event is being organised collaboratively by NIHR RDS NW, NIHR INVOLVE and the Public Programmes Team at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and NIHR CLAHRC NW Coast.

Event objectives;

1. To provide attendees with insight into national strategic priorities around diversity and inclusion in patient and public involvement in research
2. To showcase work being undertaken in the North West on diversity and inclusion in patient and public involvement in research
3. To provide opportunities for shared learning on diversity and inclusion in patient and public involvement in research e.g. to understand the key challenges and showcase facilitators in this area of work
4. To provide attendees with the opportunity to explore if and how they can use the Health Inequalities Impact Tool in their work involving patients and the public in research.

Please note there are a limited number of bursaries available to support public members in covering their expenses to attend this event, these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested please email rds-nw@lancaster.ac.uk or phone 01524 593209.
