Description

Public Law and Policing: Policing the Future (Social Justice Week 2017)

Date: Wednesday 5th April 2017
Time: 1.00pm to 4.30pm
Location: HC.0.06, Heart of the Campus, 42 Collegiate Crescent, Sheffield, S10 2BP

Free to attend and open to students, academics, professionals and interested members of the public, the event is built around two panels of research presentations.

The research showcased here, produced by academics at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and the University of Sheffield (UoS) aims to look differently at changing issues in UK policing today.

Our first panel of speakers at this event, featuring Dr. Craig Paterson (SHU), Dr. Jake Phillips (SHU).

The second panel, comprised of Jamie Grace (SHU), Dr. Matthew Bacon (UoS) and Dick Severns (SHU), will focus on policing policy research in the fields of surveillance, drugs and firearms.

Our third and final panel will feature Dr. Lindsey Rice (UoS) discussing the role of civilian investigators in contemporary UK policing, while Dr. Adam White (UoS) will be discussing the privatisation of the policing of public spaces.
