Event description
Public Lecture: Children Under The Nazis

About this Event

A joint Wiener Holocaust Library & Second Generation Network event.

In this talk, Second Generation member Professor Nicholas Stargardt will explore his research into the impact of Nazism on children during the Holocaust. Using sources from the time, ranging from welfare and medical files, to diaries, letters and children’s drawings, he will shed light on children’s lives by focusing on their play and other activities. Nick is Professor of Modern European History at Oxford University and he will also reflect on how his own background has affected his research.

Nick Stargardt's publications include The German War: A Nation Under Arms 1939 – 1945, Witnesses of War: Children’s Lives Under the Nazis and The German Idea of Militarism: Radical and Socialist Critics, 1866-1914.
