Dr Fabrice Laussy will present a public lecture covering the following topic

abstract: The greatest scientific revolution of contemporary science, quantum physics, introduced a series of counter-intuitive and surprising concepts, which we will introduce and explain in this talk. Among them, on the one hand, the world is not deterministic but is ruled by chance at its most fundamental level. On the other hand, it is also not complete, in the sense that one cannot know everything about a system, which puts into question the nature of "reality". We will show how, in the case of light, in pursuit of the best knowledge one can get on the photons under such tight constraints led us to discover a mechanism to produce a new type of light.
