Pre-War Concentration Camps in Nazi Germany
Christopher Dillon and Katja Hoyer will discuss Nazi Germany's earliest concentration camps. What was their significance as 'schools of violence'? What patterns of perpetrator behaviour were set up before the Second World War? What place do these pre-war camps have in German memory culture?
Katja Hoyer is a German-British historian and journalist. She is a Visiting Research Fellow at King's College London and the author of Blood and Iron - The Rise and Fall of the German Empire 1871-1918.
Christopher Dillon is Senior Lecturer in Modern German History at King’s College London. He is the author of Dachau and the SS: A Schooling in Violence (2015).
