Public Lesson Study
12th July 2025 - 10am-12:30pm
Open to School Leaders, Teachers, Teaching assistants, Academics and Researchers
The University of Cambridge Primary School invites you to observe our culminating Lesson Study session exploring how children develop their sense of purpose in writing and its impact on readers. Throughout 2024-25, our community has focused on how children's developing use of sentence construction supports writing for purpose and effect.
On 12th July 2025, we will demonstrate how Lesson Study has transformed our writing pedagogy through:
· A live research lesson showcasing our learning journey
· Post-lesson discussion analysing student learning
· Sharing insights from our collaboration with writing experts Charlotte Hacking, Nicola Izibili, David Reedy and Ross Young
· Practical guidance on implementing Lesson Study cycles in your own setting
This session offers a unique opportunity to witness how Lesson Study deepens understanding of children's writing development through careful observation, collaborative planning and evidence-based reflection. You'll leave with clear steps for establishing this powerful professional development approach in your school.
